Beginning on May 5, 2026, the City of Duluth will conduct rolling temporary closures of Fourth Street between Seventh Ave. East to 19 Ave. East to allow contractors space to complete lead water service replacements. The closures will roll in two block segments, beginning from the east and working westward. The closures are expected to last a month.
On-street residential parking will be affected during the closures. The closure is expected to create significant traffic delays and drivers are encouraged to use the posted detour route, or consider alternate routes to get to their destinations.
Detour routes are as follows:
Westbound traffic: Fourth Street to 19th Avenue E to Third Street to Sixth Avenue E to Fourth Street
Eastbound traffic: Fourth Street to Sixth Avenue E to Second Street to 19th Avenue E to Fourth Street
