City of Duluth Announces 3rd Annual Snowplow-Naming Contest

Enger Plower was the winning name among more than 300 entries in 2024.

In 2025 it was The Big Leplowski that won.

What will be the winning name in the third annual City of Duluth snowplow-naming contest?

The city will begin accepting submissions for suggested names of a city snowplow beginning Friday, Oct. 9, 2026.

Any Duluth resident may submit their most creative suggested name for one of the city’s snowplow truck fleet via a form on the city website for a chance to win a prize package that will make the winner the envy of their neighborhood.

Name submissions are accepted online through Oct. 23, 2026. The collected name submissions will be narrowed to a field of finalists, which will be announced on city’s social media and website on Oct. 28, at which time the public can vote online through Nov. 6 for their favorite snowplow name. The name that receives the largest number of votes wins.

The person submitting the winning name will be notified on Nov. 12 that their name was selected. The newly named snowplow will debut at the Christmas City of the North Parade. The resident with the winning name submission will get the opportunity to take a photo with the plow and the crew, to ride in the snowplow during the parade and will receive unlimited bragging rights.
