Alworth Memorial Fund Awards 100 Scholarships to Students in Northeastern Minnesota

The Marshall H. & Nellie Alworth Memorial Fund selected 100 students in Northeastern Minnesota who are pursuing a 4-year degree in math, science, engineering or medicine to receive the Alworth Scholarship.

Ninety-three scholarships for $24,000 each were awarded to seniors from 28 high schools. Seven additional scholarships for $12,000 each, under the title College Transfer Pathway, were awarded to students graduating from a two-year program.

In total, the Alworth Memorial Fund awarded $2,316,000 in its 2026 round of scholarships. Since the Fund’s founding in 1949, it has awarded $61.2 million to 5,591 motivated students.

“Alworth scholars are committed to a specific field of study. Funds are distributed throughout their time in college so they maintain a high GPA and focus their studies in math and science,” said Breanne Tepler, Executive Director of the Fund. “After reviewing and processing scholarship applications this winter, I am thrilled to be finally meeting these impressive students in person at high school award ceremonies.”

Alworth Scholarships are available to students in 60 high schools, including homeschooled, and 5 two-year schools, in the following 10 counties in Northeastern Minnesota: Aitkin, Beltrami, Carlton, Cass, Cook, Crow Wing, Lake, Itasca, Koochiching and St. Louis.
