Members Cooperative Credit Union Announces Partnership with Brightwater Health as Part of Project Horizon

Following the recent launch of Project Horizon, Members Cooperative Credit Union (Members) is proud to announce its first official Project Horizon community partnership, with Brightwater Health, the largest community mental health provider in Northern Minnesota.

Project Horizon is Members’ longterm initiative focused on mental wellbeing and strengthening
communities through human connection, partnerships, programs, volunteer efforts and
sustained investment. Through Project Horizon, Members has committed to investing $1 million
in mental wellbeing, expanding its decades-long mission of serving communities beyond
financial health alone.

As Project Horizon’s first community partner, Brightwater Health received a $100,000 donation
that will help them deliver necessary mental health care for people of all ages across Carlton,
Lake and St. Louis counties in Minnesota, as well as Douglas County in Wisconsin. The
organization provides accessible, community-based services designed to meet the diverse and
evolving needs of our communities.

“Financial stress doesn’t exist in a vacuum — it affects mental health, relationships and all
aspects of life,” said Simone Suri, SVP, Chief Administrative Officer and General Counsel
of Members Cooperative Credit Union. “Our commitment to mental wellbeing and partnership
with trusted organizations like Brightwater Health allows us to help expand access to meaningful
mental health support and better serve the whole person, which impacts our greater
communities.”

Through this partnership, Members aims to help strengthen access to mental health care while
supporting organizations that provide direct, highimpact services for individuals and families.
Brightwater Health’s focus on accessibility and community-based care aligns with Project
Horizon’s priorities of mental wellbeing, community partnership and lasting impact.

“Members’ commitment through Project Horizon will change the landscape of the Northland’s
mental health by supporting organizations like ours.” stated Benjamin Hatfield, Chief Executive
Officer of Brightwater Health. “Brightwater has a great responsibility to our community as a
Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC), we simply couldn’t provide care to all
without incredible partners like Members.”

Brightwater Health marks the first of community partnerships and engagement planned under
Project Horizon. Additional partnerships will be announced as they are established, further
extending Members’ commitment to expanding access to care and supporting longterm
community wellbeing.
