Volunteer and Board Match Event Connects Community Members with 20 Local Nonprofits

Community members looking to make a difference are invited to attend the upcoming Volunteer and Board Match Event on Wednesday, March 4, from 3:30–6 pm at The Garden, 425 S Lake Ave.

This free happy hour–style event includes complimentary appetizers, with beverages available for purchase.
Hosted in partnership with the Duluth Chamber of Commerce, Head of the Lakes United Way and
the Lake Superior YMCA, the Volunteer and Board Match offers an efficient and engaging way to
connect with representatives from more than 20 local nonprofit organizations.

Attendees will learn how they can support community missions through board service, volunteerism, donations, and fundraising.

Whether newly retired, mid-career, or just starting out professionally, volunteering offers meaningful personal and professional benefits. Studies show that volunteering can improve physical and mental health, foster a sense of purpose, strengthen relationships, and enhance professional skills, all while supporting vital community organizations.

A strong example of corporate community engagement is Minnesota Power. The company shared:
“Minnesota Power gives employees the time, support, and opportunities to serve in ways that strengthen the communities where we live and work. By stepping up and showing up, our volunteers build connection, resilience, and shared purpose across the region.”

Attendees are encouraged to stop by, enjoy refreshments, and build meaningful connections with
nonprofit leaders dedicated to strengthening the Duluth community.
